John Darnielle’s poetic, spellbinding & at times unsettling, at times uplifting turn of phrase, distinctive vocals & catchy as all get up melodies, as displayed on tracks such as Alibi , This Year , Dance Music , Palmcorder Yajna , Letter From Belgium & current Triple J fave Half Dead , as well as the band’s warm, rich, emotional performances, have won them legions of devoted fans both here & the world over. Joining the Mountain Goats as special guest at all club shows on this tour will be John Vanderslice ( USA ), a man who’s unique lyrical style blends frank, artful autobiography with richly detailed fiction. The result is a dreamy, sometimes terrifying world in which it’s difficult to know where the singer ends and the characters begin. He’s also, like Darnielle, a deft hand at the super catchy somewhat skewed pop song, as evidenced on his fifth album, Pixel Revolt , released recently on the Barsuk label.
