J Pop queen Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is set to make her debut trip to Australia this month, playing an exclusive show in Sydney on March 23.
UPDATE: Due to popular demand, the March 23rd performance has been moved to the UNSW Roundhouse, where additional tickets have been made available and are on sale now. Tickets for the Metro show will be valid at the Roundhouse.
Starting her career as a Harajuku-style fashion model, her unique outfits and free-spirited remarks have received remarkable attention. Releasing her first full album Pamyu Pamyu Revolution in May 2012, it was her second album Nanda Collection that went to #1 on the Japanese Oricon weekly chart, also ranking on the Electronic album chart in 23 countries. Today, having developed a cult following through her Tumblr and Instagram channels, her videos have amassed over 53 million views worldwide. Lauded by international critics Pitchfork “She’s already breaking most of J-pop’s rules and traditions” and Fader “Probably the planet’s most creative pop star”, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is sure to put on a show not to be missed.
