!!! (Chk Chk Chk)
Australian Tour February 2011
Civil Society is proud to announce the return of Californian psychedelic dance/punk rockers !!! (pronounced as any sound repeated three times – commonly ‘chk chk chk’, ‘pow pow pow’, ‘uh uh uh’… the possibilities are endless!).
The blazing 6 piece bring their massive sound and stunning dance moves back to Australia for their third tour as part of the Laneway Festival and for two special shows this February in Sydney and Melbourne.
Crossing the divide between indie, electronic, dance and rock, !!! have created a style of their very own, with tracks like “Heart of Hearts”, “Must Be The Moon” and “Me And Giuliani Down By the Schoolyard (A True Story)”. In 2010 !!! released their long awaited and critically acclaimed 4th album ‘Strange Weather, Isn’t It?’.
Pulling themselves out of America, !!! chose Berlin as the location to record their latest record. Drawing on the cities character and energy to produce a record that is simultaneously intimate and brooding and somehow still their most pop album to date.
The album comes after some drastic changes to !!!’s line-up. The band lost members John Pugh and Justin Vandervolgen before writing the album, and Tyler Popeduring its recording. The group has also had to deal with the shocking death of former drummer Jerry Fuchs who fell down an elevator shaft in November 2009. Pushing through the most testing point in their career, !!! put together an album every bit as strong as their last but one that is leaner and more detailed than any of their previous.
Joining !!! for both their show (…party) will be Melbourne’s World’s End Press and Super Melody.
Don’t miss the opportunity to get amongst the dance floor destroying psychedelic/dance/rock riot that is !!! as they hit the Metro in Sydney, Wednesday February 9 and the Prince Bandroom in Melbourne, Thursday February 10.
***Laneway Update***
!!! will regrettably be unable to play The Laneway Festival Auckland.
Following extensive flight delays from Singapore to Auckland !!! will no longer be performing.
The band and Civil Society are incredibly disappointed by this, however these events are completely outside of our control.
